Globe College of Business began in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1885, at 7th and St. Peter streets. Life then was very different. The college boasted about its ability to provide adequate heating during the winter and sufficient lighting to support night classes. The college advised out-of-town students to stay at a particular hotel and told them which streetcar to take from the train station. Over the years, it offered a variety of business courses at St. Paul locations such as the Grant Building and the Hamm Building.
Although times have changed, our focus on students is the same
An early catalog promised to provide students with “thorough practical training” that would lead to secure positions. The Woodbury campus of Globe University/Minnesota School of Business, the successor to that 19th century business college, continues to offer students practical, real-world training. We are still dedicated to providing students with the tools they need to succeed in their chosen fields. E-mail or call us at 651-730-5100 to learn how we do this.![]()

Courses and programs for today’s careers
Our course offerings have changed from shorthand, typing, bookkeeping and penmanship to classes that lead to today’s jobs in business, legal sciences, health sciences, and information technology. Our students obtain positions as veterinary technicians, accountants, paralegals, computer programmers and system managers.
New location with state-of-the-art equipment
Globe College moved from St. Paul to Oakdale, Minnesota, in 1997. In 2007, the college, renamed Globe University, moved to a newly constructed 68,000 square foot building in Woodbury, a growing community east of St. Paul. In the 1920s, the college urged prospective students to be sure they selected a business college with the “most modern equipment”. Today, our students have access to medical and computer labs, operating rooms and extensive practical experience using all the tools in their fields.
